Mahoro: shading dark grey

I'm just finishing off the certain dark grey areas as well as the tinsy blue areas. I sometimes mask off areas when I'm shading. And especially when I'm using a perticularly dark color. They're harder to get out if you mess up.
If you look closely, I took a shot of one of the boots with shading and one without, just to compare the before and after shots.

I wanna finish off her boots by tonight to get ready for the parade tomorrow.
Halloween's here! Woo-hoo!

Mahoro: Shading orange

It aggitates me that I can't highlight as much as I want cause of certain colors. For some reason, this color always gives me problems and doesn't want to go on smooth.
But after shading it, it doesn't look all that bad as I thought...

Though when I shaded her rib cage. It was barely sculpted in there. I wanted to do so to give her more shape to her body. But it looks a bit too harsh. Perhaps I have to soften it up a bit.

Mahoro: Shading Leggings & ribbon

The shading on the grey areas are subtle, but there. And the shading on the ribbon is done. Now to move onto the orange area on her suite. Right now, it only has 2 or 3 layers of it. A few more watered down layers and the color should be solid.

Maharo: Basecoating ribbon & metallic gun

Looking at various reference pics, it looks as if her ribbon should be more yellow than orange as I first thought. My 1st trial basecoating resulted in a more muted type of yellow with beige and browns. I think I brightened it up nicely now. And I'll have to wait till it completely dries to attempt any shading.

As for the metallic gun, it looks more weathered than I thought. I guess it depends on the degree of reflections at certain angles. Maybe it needs more black washes? What do you think? I'm not even sure if it's suppost to be metallic. In anime, it's hard to tell sometimes with the coloring. I think you could even get away with just painting it as a semi-gloss black finish rather than using metallic colors.

And I found a good reference pic of her. Though I still don't have a drawn, back shot of her suite.

Mahoro: Basecoating leggings & metal bullets

I got a few more things done this week but the battery died on my camera in the middle of the WIP shots.
So here's what I got so far (picture-wize), here's the shots of the 5+ layers of light grey leggings. I wish the grey primer was light enough to be used, but her leggings needed to be much lighter. So I painted over a white primer on this one.

Plus having no idea what bullets looks like, I did a quick google search and found a bullets for dummies site. Took a quick look at the range of colors that are used, and applied them here. I've not seen dark bronze in any of the reference bullets sites, so I deviated a bit here from the reference pic that came with the kit. Not a big deal I think. And it turned out look'n good, no? All it needs is a brown wash later on.

PSO Micromen!

Alright! I've been looking for close up pics of these fan made micromen pso characters!
Hopefully, when I have the time and dedication, I'll change some of my blank micormen into these characters too.
This guy is awesome!

I stumbled upon this site looking through Japanese, XBOX, PSO players. My god, they do exist!

Why can't we play on the same servers...

Mahoro: Eyes

Hours past by trying to blend the green in her eyes and actually make them symetrical.
I got carried away enjoying myself with wet blending the greens, when I took a look at the reference pics and noticed that I went too far north.
No biggie. I just have to bring it down, make it more dark and subtle.
Next, painting in the white/gloss reflections after everything dries and defining the borders.
I've also noticed that on the edge of her mouth, the crack of her lip seems a tinsy bit too large there. I'm debating if I'd need to fill it in before I basecoat the skintones.

1/8 Nanashi: Sculpty hat

After hours of painting Mahoro's eyes, and working on my pinkys, I wanted to get back into the spirit of Halloween. So I dished out my A-brand Nanashi, assembled her, and decided to make her more of a Halloween witch. I'm playing around with the idea of a new hat, cut up and repositioned her arms to hold a future broom, and I even got miniature pumkins for her base.
If I finish her in time for Halloween seems doubtful. I guess I just wanted to play around with somethin halloween-ish. Which reminds me, I've still have to work on my costume this year. ^^
I gotta start early ( I tend to procastinate) to be in time for the parade.
Woo-hoo! Parade!

pinky: ayato -sculpty hair

I'm still playing with super sculpty here for his extra locks of hair. On the top pics, I placed the hair on a more curve, covering over another lock of hair.
The bottom pics shows the bit of hair going under extra hairs.
Minor differences, but after watching more anime of him, I think I'm going about this wrong and may need to start from scratch.

Mahoro: white priming

Finally got around to repriming her. I kept her gun grey as you can see in the center. It would be painted mettalic, so there's no need for it to be white primed.
Next step, actual painting!
Woo hoo!
